The Lycoming College women’s basketball team stormed from 14 down in the fourth quarter to pull within a bucket, but the team couldn’t get even in a 67-62 setback against Goucher College in Landmark Conference action on Wednesday night at Lamade Gym.

Goucher (5-15, 2-11) hit eight three-pointers in the contest. Lycoming (7-13, 3-10) scored 25 points in the final quarter, leading to an exciting finish.

Goucher led 14-10 after a quarter, only for the Warriors to put together a 20-12 second period to take a four-point lead into the locker room. The Gophers outscored Lycoming, 16-7, in the third and pushed the lead to 54-40 with 6:56 left.

The Warriors, though, fought back, as senior Allison Fisher scored ten straight points for the team to get Lycoming back in the game, and Summer Emlet hit a layup with 1:09 left to close the gap to 62-60. The Warriors had a chance one possession later to tie or take the lead, but an offensive foul ended the possession, and the Gophers hit five free throws in the final minute to hang on.

Fisher finished with a game-high 16 points, including a trio of three-point makes, as well as six rebounds and four steals. Senior Kami Abdo tallied 13 points and four assists, going 8-for-8 at the foul line. Junior Ann-Marie McMurtrie notched 11 points and sophomore Jocelyn McCracken – a Jersey Shore graduate – stuffed the stat sheet with eight points, eight boards, and a career-best six assists.

Goucher’s Aniya McDaniel scored 15 points, while Nia Edens tallied 14 points, and Logan Davis notched a 12-point, 12-rebound double-double.

The Warriors will be back in action on Saturday when they hit the road for a Landmark Conference matchup against Susquehanna University. Tipoff from Houts Gymnasium is scheduled for 4 p.m.
