Kegler’s Korner: Heck Jr., Morgan have solid performances on the bowling lanes

Bowlers of the Week: John Heck Jr and Beth Morgan. After rolling a pair of 300 games the week before, Heck had only one perfect game last week, but he did add a 299 game to finish with an 862 series in the Intercommunity League.

In that same league, Morgan posted her winning series of 761 on the strength of a pair of 258 games. The Brenda Welshans Memorial League saw Erik Springer shoot an 823 series, while the Monday Night Classic League raised the total 800 series for the week to four as Tim Day fired an 810 and Dave Rickard tossed an 804, which included a 300 game.

Also throwing perfect games were Brett Nogle in the Monday Night Classic and Gary Eckholm in the Intercommunity, while Amanda Heck’s 279 game in the Thursday Night Bowling League captured high women’s game honors for the week. Posting 299 games were Duane Forrest in the Faxon Sport League and Tom Hall in the Saturday Night Moonlighters League. And Derek Smith’s 279 game in the Faxon Sport was 101 pins above his average, while Natasha Mercando exceeded her average by 82 pins with a 223 in the Diane Fox Memorial League.

The following local young bowlers did well at the Region 5 Scratch Youth Championships, held last weekend in Troy: Eoghan Rhoads won the under-12 boys division with a 476, Cameron Strouse won the under-14 boys division with a 602, John Decker and Wade Smith tied for second in the under-16 boys division, Jimmy King IV finished third in the under-14 boys division and Wyatt Smith finished sixth in the under 12 boys division.

The winners advance to the state finals in Butler on April 18-19.
