Teen getting treatment after surviving jump from I-180 bridge near Muncy
PENNSDALE – After running through traffic on Interstate 180 East late Thursday afternoon, a 17-year-old girl jumped off the north edge of a bridge into Wolf Run, according to state police.
The teen survived the jump and was brought safely out of the water by Trooper Matthew Doherty and other emergency responders who rushed to the scene, between the Pennsdale and Hughesville-Muncy interchanges, about 4 p.m.
“Troopers were initallly dispatched to investigate a report of a juvenile running in and out traffic on the interstate. We then learned she had jumped off the edge of a bridge on the highway,” a patrol supervisor said.
After she was brought out of the water, she was secured and loaded into an ambulance and taken to UPMC Williamport for further medical treatment and evaluation, the supervisor said.
Police would not comment on where she came from or why she was running.
