Three charged in separate assault cases

Blythe Adrienne Demory, 50, of 679 Sixth Ave., has been charged with simple assault and harassment for striking a female paramedic in the arm while the paramedic was attempting to treat her in her house for an undisclosed medical problem about 2:50 p.m. on Feb. 19, city police alleged in an affidavit. Officers were called to the home for “an out-of-control patient,” the court document stated.

Once she was loaded into the back of an ambulance, “Demory began screaming and attempted to rip off sensors attached to her body,” police said. Since she did not want to go to the hospital, she was released and went back inside her home, police said. She has been sent a summons to appear before District Judge Christian Frey.

In another assault case before Frey, Carl Gregory Turner, 54, 840 Poplar St., has been locked up on charges of terroristic threats, simple assault and possession of an instrument of crime following a disturbance with his wife at the couple’s home about 3 a.m. on April 7, according to court records.

Police said Turner and a woman got into an argument after he returned home “highly intoxicated.” During the argument, Turner “grabbed a knife and began making threats” directed at the woman and other people in the home, police alleged. The woman said “multiple times that she thought Turner would kill her,” according to an affidavit. Someone in the home disarmed Turner, but he quickly grabbed a second knife, prompting the woman and others in the house to get out and call police. Following his arraignment before District Judge William Solomon, he was committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $75,000 bail.

In another case, Corey Tyronne Stewart-Richardson, 22, of 321 Locust St., has been charged with felony strangulation, simple assault and harassment for punching a woman multiple times in the face and then tried to strangle her during a domestic disturbance in the 200 block of West Fourth Street about 3 a.m. on March 26, city police alleged. Arraigned before District Judge William Solomon, he remains jailed in lieu of $50,000 bail.
