Traffic stop in Williamsport leads to two felony arrests
Convicted felon Lashun M. Clark, 46, of Portsmouth, Virginia, was driving with a suspended driver’s license when state troopers stopped the 2024 Nissan Altima he was driving on Route 220, near the Reach Road interchange, about 8:10 p.m because the car had illegal window tint, according to court documents. Riding with him was the car’s owner, Britney Janell Dryer, 37, of Raeford, North Carolina, police said. After Dryer gave her consent for them to search the car, the troopers discovered and seized a handgun and 40 grams of marijuana that were in a green camouflage bag that was on the front passenger seat floor, near where Dryer was sitting.
Clark said the marijuana was his while Dryer stated she owned the handgun, police said in an affidavit. Dryer claimed she purchased the gun in North Carolina, but police said there was no record of the sale.
Both were taken into custody and arraigned before District Judge Gary A. Whiteman. Clark was charged with convicted felon not to possess a firearm, carrying a firearm without a license, possession of a controlled substance and two summary offenses. He was committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $40,000 bail while Dryer, charged with a single felony count of carrying a firearm without a license, was jailed in liue of $15,000 bail.
