Elderly man’s body pulled from pond in Muncy

MUNCY — The Lycoming County Coroner’s Office and state police are investigating the death of an elderly man whose body was pulled from a pond along Musser Lane, just outside the borough, late Thursday afternoon. Muncy Area volunteer firefighters and paramedics were dispatched to the scene, less than a quarter mile from the Church of the Resurrection, about 4:40 p.m. when a passerby spotted the body floating in the 50-foot diameter pond, according to emergency responders. East Lycoming School District names interim district leadership

During a recent work session, the East Lycoming School District board appointed Gerald McLaughlin as interim superintendent for the district and Jill Warg as interim principal at Joseph C. Ashkar Elementary School, both through June 30. Both individuals came out of retirement to serve in these positions. McLaughlin will be paid $500 per day, pending receipt of required documents, and Warg will receive $300 per day, pending receipt of similar required documents.
