Depravity and frivolous lawsuits

We have 4 bills being moved in the PA House. HB 1902, 1903, 1904, 1905; designed to allow courts to quash Truth, Justice and Liberty. These 4, “hate crimes” bills will open the doors to frivolous lawsuits and lawfare (by Constitutional standards). They will further move penalties for tangible crimes into the intangible realm. Individuals will be able to claim, someone’s open expressions of conscience, or facts, pose a threat, or are intimidating to their psyche; will allow to sue, possibly as a reason for the complaintant’s criminal actions. HB 1902 - Expands civil liability ...

Thompson’s retirement overdue

Representative Glenn “GT” Thompson’s weekly newsletter is a reminder of what he chooses to say—and what he carefully avoids. This week’s lone “Bad News” spotlighted misconduct in Congress. Yet Thompson named only a Democrat, omitting serious allegations involving two Republicans. Representative Tony Gonzales resigned following a House Ethics Committee investigation into an inappropriate relationship with a staffer. Representative Cory Mills is under investigation for alleged sexual misconduct, dating violence, and campaign finance violations—so serious that a fellow ...

Politics and war

I am shocked to see how many of the women we have elected to Congress have become vocal when speaking about the country, Trump, and the Iran War(?). They imply that America is an illegal country, racist, and an enemy of freedom and equality. The same can be said about the women who are governors of certain states. Finally, we have women who are in positions of power who were not born in America or did not grow up in America. This does not mean I have a problem with women in power. I do have a problem with their decision-making. I feel they are parroting the views of the ...

Don’t blame the messenger

Several writers seem to have neglected to read the letter written by Williamsport Mayor Slaughter regarding the cancellation of fireworks in the city this year. They have chosen to instead focus on attacking the person who wrote the letter. When I saw the announcement I knew that whoever delivered that message was going to be skewered by many residents. It is sad that so many people have a need to attack someone personally rather than pay attention to the facts. Meetings were held with the fire and police departments as well as other safety officials, and the decision was made together, ...

Gun violence or people violence?

In a letter from April 27, the writer assures us that if we just ban guns, violence will stop. How so? He does nothing to explain how violent people will stop. Or who will stop them. Or, perhaps, every person who is attacked by someone intent on committing violence should just submit to injury, rape, or death, just so the perpetrator can feel better. At least that’s the way the courts and left wing politicians seem to feel about it. Even though they’re protected by people with guns. You’re so concerned about a federal concealed carry mandate yet, with millions of people ...

Paper ballots

In this day and age with all this concern about rigged elections and cheating (rightfully so) I’d like to see an aggressive movement towards imposing paper ballots, voter I.D. and same day voting in all local, state and Federal elections. No mail-ins except for Service personnel abroad and illness/handicapped individuals. I honestly believe anyone who feels differently must be planning on cheating. Let’s bring respect and integrity back in our elections and eliminate all of these voting machines. GEORGE W. LOCKETT Morris Submitted by Virtual Newsroom
