On July 10, the Trump administration finalized a rule that removes the longstanding regulatory definition of “harm” from the Endangered Species Act. This is the most monstrous attack ever on our nation’s most vulnerable species. For decades, that definition recognized that wildlife can be harmed not only through direct physical violence, but also when habitat destruction prevents animals from feeding, breeding, sheltering, or raising their young. Rude behavior

I spent my life teaching my children and now my grandchildren to not be rude and disrespectful. Then I read the newspaper from June 16 and there is a girl at Jersey School graduation (full page) with her tongue sticking out. Turn the page and there she is again. Trump’s political genius has long been to promise people that success was just around the corner. And those same folks never realize the corner rarely comes. Cancer has a way of changing how a family sees time. I have watched people around me struggle with cancer and know how quickly life can become centered around the hope for more time together. It is one reason I believe we should do everything we can to help people catch cancer early, especially cancers that are far more treatable when found before they spread.
