Always on the wrong foot

As to be expected, Trump-hating letters by readers are still appearing in the Sun-Gazette almost daily. There are a couple letters which appeared side by side in a recent issue to which I could not keep from responding. One was by an individual in Renovo who stated that the recent meeting between President Trump and President Zelenskyy was an embarrassment for both Ukraine and the American people, indicating the embarrassment was the fault of the administration. I watched that meeting, and I agree. It was embarrassing, but only because, as I confidently saw it, Mr. Zelenskyy was ...

Welcome to our future

Think about this. Consider the trends. In the very vocal, very public maneuverings of our leadership, it is not too difficult to surmise a cultural, political, economic, even theological union with Putin’s Russia; something akin to the Anglo-American global position and leadership in the Post World War II Era. Why not? There is China to contend with. And Europe? Who cares about Europe? It all comes down to power, who owns the nukes, the oil, the coal, who best utilizes intimidation. These are Putin’s gifts. The Arctic is up for grabs, and so is Eastern Europe. Same with Africa. ...

U.S. Rep. Dan Meuser, R-Dallas, introduced a bill in the House of Representatives which he called the “Payment Information Act,” and said it is designed to combat fraud and overpayments in Federal agencies. The lack of specific information about this fraud and overpayment suggests it is a solution looking for a problem. Our unelected money saver Elon Musk claims to have found $55 billion in waste and $236 billion in overpayments within Federal agencies but provides no specific examples. A New York Times analysis finds Musk’s assessment is marred by math errors “incorrect ...

Saving Social Security

The March 26 column by Verna Caruso highlighted the importance of the Social Security program. This is a program that has become a crucial element in our society, providing financial assistance to retirees, disabled individuals and survivors of deceased workers. However, the viability and survivability of the Social Security Program has become an increasing concern due to various economic, demographic factors and the abandonment by both political parties of the long available remedies that would ensure its survivability. While the program is currently challenged by economic and ...

Radicalism

It is very apparent that the Democratic Party is full of hate, anger, lies, and terroristic acts. However, we sincerely hope that they do not change their ways because this allows everyone to see their true colors. For it is blatantly apparent that they do not care about America or the American people. They are totally absorbed in destructive radicalism. Fortunately, their radical behavior ensures President Trump‘s approval rating going through the roof! President Trump is doing exactly what we voted him for and want him to do. We all said during the last hellish four years “We ...
