Anna Rogers named LHU field hockey coach
LOCK HAVEN — Anna Rogers has been named Lock Haven’s new field hockey coach. Rogers has served as the Division I program’s assistant coach since 2016 and has helped guide the Bald Eagles to a number of successes over the last seven seasons.
“Congratulations to Anna Rogers on being named head coach for the Lock Haven field hockey team,” said Bashar W. Hanna, Commonwealth University president. “As assistant coach she has supported the success of our student-athletes both academically and athletically; her dedication has led to much success for the program over the past seven years, including three Atlantic-10 Conference tournament appearances in the last four seasons. I wish Coach Rogers all the best as she takes the helm of an historic and storied program.”
Rogers becomes just the fourth coach since the founding of the Lock Haven field hockey program in 1945 and replaces Pat Rudy, who announced her retirement after 27 seasons as the coach at Lock Haven.
“Anna Rogers was an exceptional assistant coach here at The Haven who has earned the privilege to be our next head coach,” said Tom Gioglio, director of athletics. “Besides being very familiar with Lock Haven, Anna has every quality I expect our head coaches to have. She has head coaching experience and she is a motivational teacher who prioritizes student-athlete health and well-being, and academic success. I am also very impressed with Anna’s field hockey knowledge, skills and expertise, which will help the student-athletes accomplish their field hockey goals. She has the ability to build professional relationships with the students, alumni and high school coaches and I am looking forward to seeing her implement her vision and philosophy with the team that will surely lead to student success.”
