With the season winding down, many leagues are done bowling, but there were still some noteworthy scores from those leagues still competing. Top male bowler of the week was Rod Furman who propelled his team to the championship in the playoff of the Brenda Welshans Memorial League with an 815 series. Meanwhile, Alicia Edkin captured top female honors by posting a 705 series in the Monday Night Classic League. Haley Litzelman of North Penn-Liberty and Tyler Ulrich of Warrior Run were named to the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Association/Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency All-Academic athletic team, which was announced on Monday. Each recipient will receive a $1,000 scholarship to support their post-secondary educations. The program reflects the organizations’ shared commitment to recognizing well-rounded student-athletes and supporting their academic futures. Landen Puderbach roped a walk-off single and Hughesville stormed back from a five-run fifth-inning deficit, winning an 8-7, eight-inning thriller against Bloomsburg. The Spartans (8-6) rallied for their third win after trailing in the sixth inning or beyond this season and overcame a 5-0 deficit as well as a 7-3 seventh-inning hole. STATE COLLEGE —Penn State women’s basketball head coach Tanisha Wright announces the signing of junior transfer Petra Bozan. Bozan becomes Wright’s third transfer portal pickup in the offseason.
