TIVOLI – A young Mill Creek Township man was killed Thursday night while he and a friend were working on a snowmobile at the friend’s home on Highland Lake Road, about a mile north of here, according to state police and the Lycoming County Coroner’s Office.

The death of 24-year-old Thomas Charles Cockrum, of Burns Road, has been ruled accidental, investigators said.

The snowmobile was on a trailer in the 900 block of Highland Lake Road when the owner got on it and started it, police said.

As the owner was sitting on it, the victim, who was standing at the back of trailer, lifted up the back of the snowmobile, investigators.

Suddenly, the man’s clothing got caught in the track portion of the snowmobile and pulled him in, causing fatal traumatic injuries, according to the coroner’s office. Cockrum was pronounced dead at the scene.
