Museum to feature portrayal of Gettysburg witness

The Thomas T. Taber Museum of the Lycoming County Historical Society will host its monthly Coffee Hour of the 2026 season at 10 a.m., July 9, with an appearance by Tillie Pierce, “who witnessed the Battle of Gettysburg at the tender age of 15,” a news release said. “She later recorded her reminiscences in ‘At Gettysburg: Or What a Girl Saw and Heard of the Battle.’ After the Civil War ended, Tillie married Mr. Alleman and moved in 1889 to Selinsgrove.” Tillie Pierce will be portrayed by Carolyn Ludwig. Uptown Music Collective accepting scholarship applications

The Uptown Music Collective, the area’s premier nonprofit school of music, is now accepting scholarship applications for its 2026-2027 school year, which will begin in September. According to a news release, this year, the Collective is offering 13 needs- and merit-based scholarships to currently enrolled students, as well as new students wishing to enroll in the school for the upcoming year. Library hosts ‘name the dinosaur’ contest

The James V. Brown Library, 19 E. Fourth St., is hosting a naming contest for its 2026 Summer Learning stuffy. According to a news release, this year, Summer Learning is all about dinosaurs, paleontology, and archaeology, so the stuffed mascot is, of course, an adorable green triceratops.
