John W. Alexander, of 6411 Armstrong Road, Muncy, faces charges of theft by deception and receiving stolen property following an incident in Old Lycoming Township last June, according to township police.

Police said Alexander received $175 from Terri Chapman to prune an oak tree on her property at 1525 Princeton Ave. last summer, but he allegedly never did the work or returned the money to her. A police affidavit stated Alexander has been charged multiple times for theft for taking money from individuals in exchange for tree trimming services that were never performed. He has since waived his preliminary hearing and is free on $20,000 bail.
