District judge handles two shoplifting cases
Maurice Gilmore, 52, of 832 W. Third St., has been charged with felony shoplifting for allegedly stealing $48 worth of merchandise from the Family Dollar on Aug. 21, city police said. This was his fourth shoplifting arrest, police said. He has since waived his preliminary hearing before District Judge Aaron Biichle and is free on bail.
In another shoplifting case brought before Biichle, the judge ruled insufficient evidence was presented against Samantha Matthews, 34, of 655 Krouse Ave., so he threw out a city police felony charge against her following her recent preliminary hearing. The charge stemmed from an incident from Wegmans, 201 William St., on Aug. 19.
