LOCK HAVEN — A Hughesville man was found guilty of sexually assaulting a woman at a party hosted by an unrecognized fraternity at Lock Haven University.
A Clinton County jury found Devon Jarrett Bushor, 22, a former Lock Haven University student, guilty of sexually assaulting the 18-year-old woman. He was acquitted of rape, aggravated indecent and another indecent assault charge.
The charges stem from a November 2019 party at the Alpha Chi Rho or “CROW” fraternity house. That organization is not officially recognized, a university spokesperson said Wednesday, according to PennLive.com.
The victim attended the party with the friend with whom she was visiting on campus.
Defense attorney Michael Marrone argued there was insufficient evidence to show the female was intoxicated, that she was the aggressor and the encounter was consensual.
District Attorney David Strouse responded by telling jurors that anyone too drunk to walk was too drunk to have sex with.
He called Bushor a sexual predator who was not just guilty in the eyes of the law but morally guilty as well, according to PennLive.
Before being sentenced Bushor will be evaluated to determine if he is a sexually violent predator. He already is required to register as a sex offender for 25 years due to a conviction in a similar case.
He was sentenced in January 2022 to eight months to two years minus a day followed by three years’ probation. He was granted parole last September.
Bushor in that case pleaded no contest to a charge of indecent assault by force with the victim being a Lock Haven student who was assaulted in August 2019.
He is facing a sentence of up to 12 years in state prison in the latest case, Strouse said.
