Avis mother accused of DUI while juvenile was riding in car

Motorist Teresa Ann Schultz, 49, of 24 W. Central Ave., Avis; face charges for driving impaired while her juvenile daughter was in the vehicle, it was alleged in an affidavit filed by a Lycoming County Sheriff Deputy who found her slumped over the steering wheel unconscious with the engine running about 9:45 a.m. on July 8. It was alleged in the court document that Schultz, whose driver’s license was suspended, pulled into a parking lot in the 300 block of Hepburn while under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance. Moments after the sheriff deputy found her, Shultz regained consciousness and was not experiencing a medical issue. Schultz, who refused to submit a blood sample, admitted that she had taken methadone hours earlier, the deputy wrote in the court document. Charged with endangering the welfare of child, reckless endangering another person, DUI and two summary offenses, Schultz has waived her preliminary before Frey and is free on $10,000 bail.
