Loyalsock Township woman charged after gun is fired
Awakened by someone knocking on her back door at her Loyalsock Township home about 11:45 p.m. on Sept. 2, Sherri Andy grabbed her gun and approached the door to see who was there, according to an affidavit. When the 34-year-old woman realized it was a uniformed state trooper, “she did not think it was a good idea to be holding the firearm, so she went to place it on a table,” the court document stated. However, when she threw the gun, it landed on the ground and went off, police said. A trooper at the back door said that Andy threw the gun on the ground after opening up the rear screen door, police said. The trooper, who was not injured, had been sent to the woman’s home to check on her welfare, police said. Charged with a single misdemeanor count of recklessly endangering another person, Andy, of 1655 Randall Circle, has waived her preliminary hearing before District Judge Gary Whiteman and released on $5,000 bail.
