Winfield woman allegedly lied on form to obtain firearm

A Winfield woman is accused of providing a false answer on an ATF form in an attempt to obtain a firearm on Oct. 14, 2025, state police said in court documents.

On that day, Brandy Suzanne Hoffman-Aho, 49, attempted to purchase a Sig Sauer P365X semi-automatic Fuse from a Muncy gun and sports shop, but was denied after allegedly providing a false “no” answer to one of the questions on ATF form 4473.

She then signed the form, which states, “I certify that my answers in Section B are true, correct, and complete. I have read and understand the Notices, Instructions, and Definitions on ATF Form 4473. I understand that answering “yes” to question 21.a. if I am not the actual transferee/buyer is a crime punishable as a felony under Federal law, and may also violate State and/or local law,” court filings allege.

Hoffman-Aho was arraigned by District Judge Kirsten Gardner on charges of providing false written statements in the sale or transfer of a firearm and making false statements under penalty, and released after posting $15,000 bail.

Starting at $2.99/week.
