Three men charged with assault in separate cases

Steven Jack Joy, 31, of 1026 Cemetery Road, has been charged by simple assault and harassment after he struck Tyler Bower in the face in the 1400 block of West Third Street, Williamsport, about 9:30 p.m. on March 7, Williamsport police alleged in an affidavit. Joy was recently held for court on the charges following his preliminary hearing before District Judge Aaron Biichle. He is free on $5,000 bail. Bower was treated at UPMC Williamsport and discharged.

In another case, Christerpher Steven Coleman, 28, of 509 Cemetery St., Williamsport, was charged with simple assault, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct following a domestic disturbance Sunday in which he allegedly struck a woman in the home they share, Williamsport police said. The woman was treated at UPMC Williamsport. When he was taken into custody, officers had to carry Coleman down a flight of steps because he refused to go willingly, police said. It was alleged that Coleman allegedly threatened “to pop” (shoot) the woman and her friends, it was stated in an affidavit. Following his arraignment before District Judge Gary Whiteman, Coleman was jailed in lieu of $12,500 bail.

In another case, Justin Michael Corrigan, 33, of 47 S. Main St., apartment A, Williamsport, has been locked up on charges of strangulation, simple assault, terroristic threats and harassment following a disturbance Saturday with his girlfriend in their home in which he “placed his hand around her neck, shoved her against the wall, picked up a knife and told her he was going to kill her,” state police alleged in an affidavit filed at the office of District Judge Kirsten Gardner. He is jailed in lieu of $35,000 bail.
