Timothy Maddox, 35, last known address of 832 W. Third St., was charged with attempted murder, two counts of aggravated assault, possession of an instrument of crime and reckless endangerment after an early morning incident in which he allegedly stabbed two people at the Trade and Transit Center on West Third Street on Friday

Maddox stated that the stabbing was “a long time coming,” while admitting to the stabbing, city police said.

Maddox reportedly followed the female victim to the bus station to continue an ongoing confrontation, court documents said.

A witness stated the suspect and female had exchanged words prior to the stabbing, but was unable to make out what was being said.

A male acquaintance of the suspect and victim attempted to intervene in the fight and was stabbed in the lower abdomen.

The female victim suffered multiple stab wounds, including to her chest, two to her stomach and one in the right bicep.

A short pursuit took place before the suspect was apprehended on Pine Street, according to witnesses.

Police recovered a folding pocket knife with a three inch blade from Maddox. The knife was covered in blood and human flesh, police state.

In his statement to police, Maddox accused the victims of smoking crack at his house and said that, after telling them not to, they became disrespectful, an affidavit said.

Maddox further stated that he did not plan the attack, but said he was “triggered,” and felt he had no other choice than to stab the victims in self-defense.

Maddox has a long criminal history that includes drug and theft charges, according to court documents.

Arraigned by video before District Judge Denise Dieter, Maddox was denied bail, with Dieter finding that Maddox is a “tangible threat to society” and that no bail conditions could be set that would “reasonably and likely keep the community safe.”

The victims were transported to UPMC Williamsport. No update on their conditions was available as of press time.
