Why are you a Democrat?

I was amused to read on the May 3 Opinion Page a letter asking, ” Why are you a Republican?” I read the letter and cannot determine if the writer is serious. I will reply to her points and then ask her to reconsider why she is not a Republican.

She asks about the “insurrection by storming the Capitol.” The newly released January 6 videos show the Capitol Police ushering in demonstrators. Where did she “see” storming? Next, she comments on “the legally valid (2020) election”. Where is the footnote on “valid?” I believe Trump asked about 56 courts to hear his election fraud evidence case and none opted to hear him, so what was determined to be “legally valid?” Which court was that?

Sharon asks about “banning books.” Why not ban sexually explicit books parents find offensive in elementary schools? What I consider to be transgender indoctrination was never approved by parents. If that is a Democratic policy, I think you can count most parents out. Finally, why are Democrats proud of allowing our borders to be open 24/7? Why do illegal immigrants enjoy free medical care, free college and free housing? Is that why Democrats pushed our national debt to OVER $31 trillion our grandkids will have to pay back? Do we really need more? I am a veteran and get nothing free!
