Stop sign is needed

Responding to the letter regarding stop signs…my wife and I made numerous requests (for 3 and 1/2 years) for traffic calming measures to possibility save a life as a result of the speeding taking place on Campbell Street. Now that 11 children under the age of 12, live on the block between Belmont and Hawthorne avenues, the stop sign initiatives were necessary.

Too often, we witnessed cars “flying down the hill” onto Campbell Street because no stop sign was at the bottom.

Stop signs are inconvenient for all of us; however, preventing the tragedy of a child being killed due to the numerous drivers who irresponsibly speed in both directions was and SHOULD BE a PRIMARY goal in our neighborhood.

We applaud the mayor and his staff for listening and responding to make Campbell Street safer. Thank you, Mayor Slaughter!
