As a retired federal agent, I want to thank you for your very logical editorial on the opinion page of the March 26, 2026 Williamsport Sun-Gazette, “ Neighboring state’s gun control push too rushed for comfort.” You clearly set forth how the Democrats have taken over the Virginia state government and pushed through about 20 gun control bills that strip Virginia residents of their Second Amendment gun rights without affecting criminals in any way! The same gun control laws were in effect for all 26 years I carried a federal badge in Massachusetts. Gun control is not crime control. ...

Surrender in Alaska

When Trump met with Putin last year in Alaska, his intent was to make his Russian counterpart “see the light” regarding the war in Ukraine. Instead, I believe it was Putin that showed him the darkness--that autocracy works, and might makes right. Cooperation is not the endpoint of foreign policy; it is subjugation, and that control of oil is the key. This is not strength but surrender with a handshake. In the end, character matters. War isn’t the solution

Alive and well

Trump Derangement Syndrome is alive and well in Lycoming County. Ms. Caruso lays the blame for everything wrong in this country on Trump. Not once have I seen an editorial of hers regarding the millions and millions of illegal immigrants cross our border when Biden was president, or about the over 350,000 children missing. Thankfully the Trump administration is doing what they can to send the illegal immigrants back and they have found many of the missing children and have reunited them with their families. Helping farmers

I thought Trump was a friend of farmers, but it doesn’t appear to be so. Aside from his high tariffs causing farmers to lose their markets and the high cost of fuel due to an unnecessary war, Trump just canceled a program, which awarded $300 million for projects which supported farmers in underserved communities.
