LHU baseball drops first two games of series at Slippery Rock

SLIPPERY ROCK – The Lock Haven baseball team traveled to Slippery Rock for the first two games of a four-game Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division series this weekend. Lock Haven fell in game one, 16-1 and The Rock won game two, 11-2.

In game one, the Bald Eagles’ lone run was from a pinch-hit solo home run from Kaden Rodarmel in the seventh.

Evan Schmelz pitched 1.1 innings of relief, only allowing one earned run and one strikeout.

In game two, Lock Haven opened the game’s scoring on a Jerry Lambert stolen base. Lambert stole third and play led to an error that brought him around to score.

Robert Furino scorched an RBI-double later in the third to push the lead to 2-0.

However, host Slippery Rock was able to score 11 runs unanswered and run away with the ball game.

The pair of losses have The Haven sitting at 5-31 and 1-16 in PSAC West play, while the wins put The Rock at 21-14 and 8-10 in conference action.

The Bald Eagles will return to action Saturday for their senior day at home against Slippery Rock. Game one is set for a 1 p.m. start with the senior day celebration scheduled to be held between game one and two the DH.

Starting at $2.99/week.
