Penn State women sign four-star guard Kamrah Banks

STATE COLLEGE — Penn State women’s basketball  coach Tanisha Wright inked the first signee to her 2026-27 roster in four-star guard Kamrah Banks. The point guard from Indianapolis, Ind. becomes the first addition for Wright to her incoming class.

“Our staff and I are thrilled to welcome Kamrah and her family to Happy Valley to join the Lady Lion family,” said Wright. “Kamrah is a proven leader and has the ability to create for herself and others. She is the first athlete to believe in the direction that Penn State women’s basketball is headed and we are excited to get to work.”

Banks arrives in Happy Valley following an accomplished high school career. The four-star guard leaves Crispus Attucks as the all-time leading scorer where she also set a new school record for most points scored in a single game with 63, a record previously held by NBA Hall of Famer Oscar Robertson on the boy’s side. In the state of Indiana, that feat ranks fourth on the single-game scoring record list.

In her final high school season, Banks averaged 20.4 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 2.4 steals per game. She led her squad in points per game and points. The proficient point guard earned MCCGSA All-City first team honors in back-to-back seasons while being tabbed a 2026 McDonald’s All-American nominee.

She was named the no. 1 combo guard in the state of Indiana in addition to her top 100 ranking. The 2024-25 season exceeded expectations for Banks. The Indianapolis native averaged 26.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.9 steals and 1.8 assists per game.

The star guard spent four years as a Nike EYBL player and one year as a 3SSB athlete. Banks is a two-time invitee to Overtime Select, a premier girls’ high school basketball league featuring 64 of the top-ranked high school players in the country.
