Alleged drunk motorist charged with felony assault
When Brandon Eugene Baysore plowed his 2008 Ford Edge into Tiffany Gettinger’s Acura MDX on Route 220 in Woodward Township about 9 p.m. on May 9, injuring both her and a female passenger, the 34-year-old man had a BAC of .14, according to a state police affidavit. The injured passenger, Josephine Ryder, was admitted to the intensive care unit at UPMC Williamsport with head injuries and a “compression fracture” to her back, the affidavit stated. The impact pushed Gettinger’s car over an embankment and into a ditch, police said. She was treated at the hospital for bruises throughout her body, police said.
At the scene, Baysore, of 1202 Northway Road Extension, told a trooper that he had been awake that day since 3 a.m. and that he believed “he possibly fell asleep behind the wheel,” court records stated. He said he was on his way home from “a golf outing,” police said. There was an odor of alcohol on his breath, and his eyes were bloodshot, the affidavit stated. However, Baysore initially denied consuming any alcoholic beverages, but then admitted that he had “two to three beers throughout the day,” police said. While performing field sobriety tests, he “showed multiple indicators of impairment,” police added. Arraigned last week before District Judge Denise Dieter on felony aggravated assault by vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, DUI, recklessly endangering and two summary violations, Baysore was released on $50,000 bail.
