Lycoming College student crowned Miss Pennsylvania Volunteer

On Sunday, October 9, 2022, Abby Traxler of Lewistown was crowned Miss Pennsylvania Volunteer 2023 at Centennial Hall in Haverford, PA. Traxler is a senior at Lycoming College majoring in Business Administration. She is a Dean’s List student, President of the Class of 2023, tour guide, finance tutor, singer, and public speaker.

Abby uses her voice and life experiences to help others. Her newest title allows her to reach out to the community and work to prevent childhood bullying through her platform, Project ABBY: Anti-Bullying Begins with You.

During the state competition, the delegates competed in personal interview, swimsuit, talent, evening gown, and onstage question. In addition to $3,000 in scholarship money, Abby was awarded a four-year in-kind tuition scholarship to DeSales University and an additional $250 as the winner of the Stephen Yearick Memorial Overall Evening Gown Award.

Abby will represent Pennsylvania in the national Miss Volunteer America Pageant in June 2023 in Jackson, Tennessee. The Miss Volunteer America organization is a nationwide, service-oriented scholarship program based in Tennessee that seeks to empower young women through educational scholarships and extraordinary opportunities. The five points of the crown represent the principles of the organization's mission, S.E.R.V.E.: Scholarship, Education, Responsibility, Volunteerism, and Empowerment.
