Local roundup: Loyalsock thumps Bloomsburg in softball 15-0 in three innings

Kinsie Phillips threw a three-inning no-hitter, while Maddie Wertz, Sophia Miller and Maddy Williams all went 3 for 3 as Loyalsock thumped Bloomsburg, 15-0 in three innings. Phillips struck out four and also drove in three runs. Wertz produced four RBIs, Williams tripled and Miller doubled. Williams also scored twice, while Easton Waller and Addi Barowy each doubled. Barowy scored three times and Loyalsock (9-3, 5-1 HAC-III) ended the game early by scoring eight runs in the third inning.

Williamsport continued produced another dramatic late-game comeback, scoring six runs in the top of the seventh, erasing a three-run deficit and then holding off a Danville rally to win a 14-13 thriller. The Millionaires (10-1, 6-0 HAC-I) won for a fourth time in their final at-bat and have erased deficits of three or more runs to win three games this season. Kate Solomon had a big day, going 3 for 5 with a home run and five RBIs, while Kinsley Cannode (2 for 3) homered for a second straight game and drove in two runs. Ashlyn Robinson earned the win, also going 3 for 5 with a double and three RBIs. The Millionaires finished with 12 hits but also made six errors.

Addison Greger went 3 for 4 with a double and Montgomery gave undefeated Northwest all it could handle, dropping a 6-5 heartbreaker in eight innings. The Red Raiders (8-3) took a 5-4 lead into the seventh against a team which has been blowing out all its opponents. Greger drove in and scored twice, while Madisyn Miller had two hits, two RBIs and a run. Zoe Furman tripled and scored a run and Ava Hartman slowed down a potent offense, not allowing an extra-base hit. Brooke Dietrich added a hit and RBI.

North Penn-Liberty used one hit to beat Towanda, 1-0. The Black Knights wer eheld to three singles as Elyna Booth pitched well in the circle wtih 11 strikeouts.

Haley Litzelman went 1 for 2 with an RBI for the Mounties, driving in Maddie McNamara.

Wellsboro was limited to just two hits and weren’t able to score runs as Athens defeated the Green Hornets, 3-0. Kaylee Frazier went 1 for 3 with a double while Harleigh Cleveland was 1 for 3.

Mallory Dickinson went 3 for 4 with a double and three RBIs while Mariah Hallabuk had a triple, three RBIs and scored four runs to help Sullivan County defeat Muncy in softbal in five innings, 18-8. The Griffins scored nine runs in the first inning and were in control from there.

The Indians managed to out-hit Sullivan, but couldn’t rally late when needed. Sophie Maiorana went 2 for 3 wtih a double and scored twice while Avery Buss finished 2 for 3 with two runs scored.

• Jahvon LaRosa went 2 for 4 and Drake Dupont hit an RBI double, but Loyalsock dug a hole early and could not come all the way back in a 4-2 loss at Danville. The Lancers cut an early three-run deficit to one in the fourth but did not score again. Nolan Rall and LaRosa combined on a six-hitter.

Wellsboro’s baseball game against Athens was suspended due to darkness in the top of the 11th inning with the score tied, 4-4.

• Henry Heintzelman earned a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles, but he was the lone singles player for Lewisburg to secure a win as Danville beat the Green Dragons in a tight contest, 3-2. Lewisburg’s other win came at No. 1 doubles in a three-set thriller.

Colby Jacob and Tyson Nicholls lost the first set, 7-6 (7-2) to Donovan Larson and Parker Gale. However after that, the Green Dragon duo pulled off back-to-back wins, 6-4, 6-2, to win the matchup. Lewisburg’s Luke Azeredo lost at No. 3 singles to Collin Sauers, 6-1, 7-6 (7-5).

MOntoursville improved to 10-4 by defeating Milton, 4-1. The Warriors swept the doubles competition. Milton’s only win came at No. 3 singles where Cole Blackmon won a three-set contest over Colby Ulmer, 6-3, 4-6, 10-7.

Teli Bobotas won at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-0 vs. Ricky Campos and at No. 2 singles, the Warriors’ Gio Catino picked up a 6-2, 6-4 win against Adam Kerstetter.

In doubles action, Montoursville’s Cole Snyder and Rain Snyder beat Tavin Reitz and Tobin Strous, 6-2, 7-5 and at No. 2 doubles, Cullen Pauling and Mason Fry beat Chance Benshoff and Cahner O’Grady, 6-0, 6-0.

Wellsboro edged out Towanda, 3-2. Mason Brill (No. 2 singles), James Doughtie (No. 3) and Gideon Lawton (No. 4) all won in singles action for the Green Hornets. Bayley Poll of Towanda won at No. 1 singles against Luke Rothermel, 6-3, 6-3.

In doubles action, Towanda won two out of three contests to earn the point. Wellsboro’s RJ Doughtie and Jack Hammerton won a tNo. 2 doubles over BRody Hennessy and Travyn Lewis, 6-3.

• Juniors Thomas Anderson and Keegan Gill posted a win at No. 2 doubles to lead the Lycoming College men’s tennis team, which fell to Alfred University, 7-0. Anderson and Gill notched a 6-4 win over Tristan Duhan and Thomas Hamilton.

The Warriors are 3-12 and Alfred improved to 10-5.
